The Fisheries Commission

Until his appointment, Benjamin Betey Campion (PhD.) was an associate professor at the Department of Fisheries and Watershed Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST).
Prof. Campion has a very diverse academic upbringing, which has imbued him with varied and practical knowledge in his area of expertise: BSc. Botany (University of Cape Coast), MSc. Aquatic Tropical Ecology (University of Bremen), MSc. Sustainable Resource Management (Technical University of Munich) and a PhD. in Natural Sciences (University of Bremen). He is also a certified High Conservation Values (HCV) assessor.
Prof. Campion has for over 20 years been teaching and conducting research in the University. His areas of academic interest are fisheries management, oceanography and coastal issues, aquatic resource ecology, wetlands, resource and conflict management, climate geography, adaptation and resilience.
Prof. Campion brings to the Commission several years of research and working experience with fisheries stakeholders, and networks, both local and international. He is a member of the International Collective in Support of Fishworkers (ICSF) and the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO).

Prof. Berchie Asiedu is a renowned fisheries and aquaculture expert with extensive experience in small-scale fisheries, aquaculture development, blue economy, ocean governance, value chain analysis, post-harvest operations, and climate change adaptation.
Before he was appointed Deputy Executive Director (Technical) of the Fisheries Commission of Ghana, he served as the Dean of the School of Natural Resources; Coordinator of the Ghana Inland and Blue Economy Centre (2023-2025); Head Centre for Climate Change and Gender Studies; (2021-2023); Head, Department of Fisheries and Water Resources (2017-2021) at the University of Energy and Natural Resources.
With international experience across several countries, he has received numerous awards from global institutions, including the Department for International Development (UK), Department of Trade and Foreign Affairs (Australia), Canadian Commonwealth Exchange Program-Africa (Canada) and the World Academy of Sciences. His widely cited research focuses on sustainable fisheries management, ocean governance, and food security.
Prof. Asiedu continues to contribute to policy and scientific advancements in Ghana's fisheries and aquaculture sector.

Hon. Dr. Eric Cobbinah hails from Shama in the Western Region. He obtained his first degree in Geography and Sociology from the University of Cape Coast and also earned a Bachelor of Laws from the same university.
He holds a Master of Arts degree in Development Management from the School of Development Studies, University of Cape Coast. Additionally, he earned a Ph.D. in Management Science Engineering from the School of Management at Jiangsu University in China
Dr. Cobbinah is currently pursuing a Master of Laws in Corporate and Commercial Law at the University of Ghana School of Law and is also a student at the Ghana School of Law, undertaking the Professional Law Course.
His areas of expertise include Development Management, Organisational Behaviour, Local Governance, Petroleum Law, Insurance Law, Banking Law, and Corporate and Commercial Law.
Hon. Dr. Eric Cobbinah served as the District Chief Executive of the Shama District Assembly during the first government of President John Dramani Mahama.
